Lake Sinclair, located along the fall line of Middle
Georgia’s Oconee River was completed by the Georgia Power Company
in 1953 and has provided electricity for Georgians since
its dedication.
Set in the rolling hills and forests of the Georgia Piedmont,
Lake Sinclair, has 15,330 acres of water and over 417 miles of shoreline. The water
in Lake Sinclair is not only used to produce electricity at the Sinclair Dam, it
is also re-circulated to its upstream sister Lake Oconee, where it can be run through the turbines again to produce electricity there.
Because of the importance of both lakes in producing electricity,
Georgians are offered fabulous fishing, boating, and wonderful lakefront living
opportunities.
Recreation areas on Lake Sinclair include boat ramps,
camping areas, public fishing and picnic facilities.
The nearby communities of Eatonton and Milledgeville offer
necessary shopping, industry, churches and schools, and are rich in history and
tradition.
